Palo Alto, California, and Melbourne, Australia – Feb 13, 2026 – Bitterroot Bio has made the strategic decision to pause clinical development of BRB-002. Based on data generated in the MATADOR trial, Bitterroot Bio is undertaking a focused optimization phase for BRB-002 to incorporate newly identified insights into CD47 biology in the cardiovascular environment. These efforts are intended to quickly enhance the program’s clinical readiness, with the goal of returning to the clinic on an expedited timeline with improved clarity and confidence.
We remain firm believers in the potential of the CD47 pathway to treat atherosclerosis and retain an enthusiastic team committed to making a difference in the lives of patients affected by this disease.
The board of directors has appointed Steve Hill as Interim CEO to work with Charles Kaplan (SVP, Research) and Will Krause (SVP, Finance & Operations) to lead the Company as it executes a research and pre-clinical development program aimed at returning to the clinic.
Bitterroot Bio appreciates the departing team members who supported our efforts to uncover these novel biological mechanisms in the MATADOR study, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors. We also appreciate the continued support and confidence of the board and our investors in this next stage of the Company’s progress.
